What is SLIS?
The Soil Laboratory Information System (SLIS) is a centralised digital platform that connects all seven soil testing laboratories under the Department of Soil Survey and Soil Conservation (SSSCD), Government of Kerala, into a single, unified operational system.
Before SLIS, each laboratory operated independently with manual registers, paper-based records, and fragmented workflows. SLIS replaces this with a standardised, end-to-end digital system — from the moment a soil sample arrives at a lab to when the final report is delivered.
Developed by ICFOSS (International Centre for Free and Open Source Solutions) using Free and Open Source Software, SLIS ensures transparency, traceability, and real-time monitoring across all laboratories by the Principal Soil Chemist.
Everything inside one system.
SLIS is the central hub — and each module is a core capability that keeps Kerala's soil laboratories running efficiently.
7 Laboratories. One system.
SLIS connects every soil testing laboratory under SSSCD — from Thiruvananthapuram in the south to Kasargod in the north — monitored in real-time.
